Dear all,
so the wife 'drags' me out to go look at snowdrops today. I wasn't really that keen, especially after a week in Paris, a stolen laptop and a busted model crane! However, I toed the line (need to keep 'er sweet for future model purchases!!) and off we went.

Got within 30 minutes of our destination (Hodsock Priory) when an ALE truck came by with a mounted HIAB. Shortly after this there was a police car slowing traffic down so I was starting think there could be something going on so we pulled over into a lay by. After a few minutes, this turned up:

I have to say that this rather made my day!! I have never seen one of these rigs before, especially this close. The MAN took me by surprise as I didn't see it coming, hence the poor photo.

I hope you enjoy the photos Smile

Good pics Paul,

Is that Man truck an ALE truck? its not in their normal colours.

Talk about being in the right place at the right time.

Guys,
snow drop is a small, white flower that comes into bloom this time of year. Kind of signifies the end of Winter! There are some areas in the UK that are well known for them.

And this is the place we visited.

No it is not an ALE truck. I missed the name on the side as it took me by surprise!

Great Pictures. The Other wagon Is An L.T.S or L.T Lewis wagon. They use it Anchor or Traction when the other Fauns and OAf and so on are out on other Jobs.

They Unload it By lifting the towers up higher then Ride hight then Shoring or supporting the Girders, Then Removing the necks, And Back More Bogies or SPMTs under, Lifting them up taking the load of the supports then driving off.

Or the Lift the load out with a crane or one of ALE Jacking Systems.

Thenks for the Pictures Paul Teeth Jammy bugger

An these evan jammyer ones out there Like Tim and David Weston who know hen all this happens and see it all the time Cool

Just simply AWESOME!!!! Good eye and a great find. Ya gotta go with your instincts, ya never get a second chance.

I love the Lorrie Cab mounted on the back end of the trailer. Nice custom detail.
Also those MAN 4 axle beasties are incredible. Would love to get my hands on one someday.

Great photos and good job!

Cheers!

Sweet pictures, I've seen the unipower before with just the front section of trailer, a very impressive machine. Because there needs to be a notification to the police and local authorities, there should be a way to let Joe public know about it, not just for us to watch it but for people who wish not to get stuck behind it. It would not be that hard to get some type of system. It could be on the magic Red button on 'Travel News’, say for argument sake ‘abnormal load on the A476’. You can then avoid that road or like me take a camera, few sandwiches and a flask of tea.

Nice photos Paul. The MAN belongs to Lewis Transport Services from Derbyshire. ALE use the MAN as spare pusher tractor for some of the steeper hills. Looks like a typical ALE job 4 tractors and long delays for motorists. Allelys did a transformer into Ellesmere Port last weekend with just a pair of 8x4 DAFs and took a day off ALEs time! The DAFs were absolutely motoring!!Whistle

Lewis Transport have been used by ALE as an additional tractor a few times recently.

Here's one of Allely's last week.

There are more on the www.heavyhaulage.blogspot.com and there is also one of Lewis MAN pushing an ALE outfit.

All,

Believe it or not, this heavy haul outfit can be purchased in model form from A. Smith. Granted, it is not cheap, but it can be added to your collection.

Smile Great photos Paul
This is a good example to everybody on this forum, every time you go out in the car take the camera you never know what you may come across.
