Been some time since my last post so here's the BIG news.... I stopped down at LC&N (Lehigh Coal and Navigation) about 2 months ago to ask to visit their site....instead I found myself sitting with the President and Board of the company for a job interview. Their interest in me was amazing! They want me to start working next summer as their junior mine engineer working under their senior engineer Ed Scott, which I already have agreed to. For the time being, I am currently employed to fill in as their second shift DEMAG operator on weekends running their H285S. My shovel training begins this weekend. Now for those here who have head many "rumors" about what LC&N is doing...let me bring you up to date. Jim Curran is back as President and CEO, we are pulling out of bankruptcy very strongly and fast, DEMAG production is averaging 331,000 tons per month, Bank job 8 is in full operation pulling out 57x36ft Orchard vein, Job 99 backfill is underway, and Springdale mine/backfill scheduled to begin Nov 7 this year. As for our equipment...2 new Komatsu HD785's just arrived 2 weeks ago, new Komatsu WA800, new Komatsu D475A-3 (another on it's way), and a second DEMAG H285S is being priced in Virginia. Springdale is going to be our new big job. As the entire downfall started at Springdale for LC&N, it's time to end it. DEP's demands are meet and the backfill of the 700ft pit will start Nov 7 as we develop a new (Pit #3) along side it. I'll be on weekend shift once this starts.... Here's some pics Greenwood Breaker entrance Current main office. We are renovating the old office and should be moved in again by Nov Bank 7 Job Lima 2400B & 4600 Our new WA800 4600 at Bank 7 Job 99 Backfill job is being done with - 475A3, D11R, D10N. Lectra Haul Mark 36's..each 170t Me standing by one Euc R170 R45's..ready for scrap and to be replaced with new water trucks 457A-3 Komatsu...dam paint wears off so fast...lol! Primary shovel- H285S DEMAG. Soon to be my part time job!

Wow Justin. That must be like a dream-coming-true. At first getting a job before you even finished you studies at uni and then beeing offered a job as a shovel operator. Congratulation! Pennsylvania must be flooded with old, good looking equipment. I´m following your video-uploads on youtube. I´ve watched every single one like 10 times. Just can´t get enough of that stuff.

Great photos as usual, Justin. Congrats on the getting a job with them, you'll get to be around what you love! Lehigh is where our Francisco surface mine got our two Euclid R260's from. Here are some photos during operation: Here's one I took this past month. They have parked the Hitach EX5500 shovel fleet. They were still using both R260's for the EX3500 up until one needed a wheel motor replaced. It now sits waiting the move to Bear Run. - Alex
