Great pictures. I agree that the trailer looks like the Savage trailer. I have the model and compared the pictures to the model and it appears to be the same trailer with two of the middle sections removed. The model has three center sections. The end units appear to be where the operators sat have been removed. The KW C500 are my favorite heavy haul tractors.

TimT wrote:I don't know if its the exact trailer, Trail King built a couple big trailers of that size, one is operated by Beyel Brothers Crane and Rigging in Florida, Its an 800 ton trailer. Last I knew Intermountain Rigging and HH was the owner of that first huge trailer after they merged with Savage Industries HH division. Marino might have purchased that big trailer also, and then it became Mammoet property.. Anyone know for sure.. the history is vague for me. The beams that Mammoet is using, do belong to Intermountain, unless Mammoet has recently purchased them. Mammoet rents them quite often, and has used them for more times than the sole owners. Marino has/had a large set of suspension beams, but they were built by Goldhofer. Barnhart has put the beams up for sale, since thier purchase of Marino. Trailking only ever built one trailer this size. These beams are known as the TK 1000, 500 ton capacity. The trailer that Beyel has, used to belong to Hallamore. That trailer is a TK 800, 400 ton capacity. Trailking has built many trailers like this on, but none as big as this one. I think the TK 800 that Beyel has now, is the second largest trailer they built.

Finally found the picture of the T400's maiden voyage, bringing a low pressure vessel to the Sage Mill project at Twin Creeks Mine. This rig was used seven more times on this job to deliver the rest of the support vessels for the two autoclaves. The claves were transported on the T500

I got this from my friend at Mammoet regarding this move: Units northbound on US 25 just north of I-85.
As they passed:
100572 - 2007 Kenworth T-800 W - Edmonton, AB 100599 - 2006 Kenworth T-800 W - Edmonton. AB the load platforms - All Goldhofers the bridge - Trail King - now owned by Mammoet 100319 - 2005 Western Star 4964 EX - Edmonton, AB 100569 - 2007 Kenworth T-800 W - Edmonton, AB
following:
service and escorts 110208 - 1005 Kenworth C-520 - Rosharon, TX
the RED Peterbilt with the platform parts trailer is a 379 E
The support consists consists of 16 trailers with tractors hauling wheeled boogies, rough terrain fork lifts, jack stands, cribbing, steel decking, and repair parts. Two trailers were Mammoet - the rest are from Superior Crane and Rigging of Charleston, SC.
The beam trailer was purchased by Mammoet last year and was a Trail King 800 ton unit the was modified my Mammoet USA to handle 1,000 tonnes.
The Goldhoffer T-HP (transporter, hydraulic platforms) also were modified with swing away out riggers to each accept tandem boogie sets, and can be seen in the DHS Forum photos and the video.
Do enjoy, as I am as we move this 850 tonnes Toshiba turbine north to Cliffside Power Plant.
and he also add: this load is police escorted and guarded when stopped due to anti power plant and anto coal demonstrators.
The KW C-520 is a booster and spare power unit.
The planned route was/is US 25 north to US 11 east to 221 north through Chesnee, then the jog east to 221 A to the power plant turn off. The 221 area is the best for fotos being wide open - the rest are tight in the forest and on narrower roads.

Bob, thanks so much for the info!! I wish I would have known it was there on 25....I drove right passed it this weekend on the way to Asheville.... One question, I live in Charleston, and have never heard of Superior Crane and Rigging....either the name or the city may be incorrect?? If they do exist here, they must be new?? Check it out and let me know if in fact they are here now, because that would mean a new company in town to go "bother" into letting me take some pictures!!!! -Alvin.

AlvinB- From my friend: Saw the info put into your forum note.
Suoerior Transportation operates out of the ports of Charleston, SC and IS NOT a new company, but is expanding by purchasing smaller operations. In an earlier photo spread of the SC Superload - the crane and fork lifts were used in the Jasper County photos.
They are a specialty over dimensional transportation company, like Turner, that also has an extensive rigging operation, and cranes.
Superior company is located in several other areas in the southeast - as is another sleeping giant "Turner Transfer" also located in the port of Charleston, and from Ohio to Hampton Roads south, with a facility just south of Mammoet (Fort Mill) in Rock Hill, SC.
Now for the note I sent you......the 100 for the C-520 should have been 199 in the date - sorry, but small keys on this field computer, and fat fingers on my hand.
Today, due to the rain, the load is sitting still.

Thanks for the info, Bob! I have seen Superior Transportation around quite a few times....I did not know they also were linked to Superior Crane....Learn something new every day. I have seen many Guy M Turner trucks around here too. They are constantly hauling long and over-width loads out of the port.
I will keep my eye out and see if I can get some picutures of them next time I catch them. I work about 3 miles from the port.

Some more pictures of this transport can be found on my website, as this picture showing the big C520 Kenworth up front. Other pictures show the transport of various construction equipment and even a hovercraft! Enjoy! Oebele www.heavytransport.nl
