ALE moved this stator into Fiddlers Ferry near Warrington, Cheshire recently. Faun HZ spare tractor Faun Koloss pulling Faun Elefant at the back pushing. The registration plate suggests it was manufactured in 1976. They are new to ALE though. A video of the move is on my blog. Girder frame is ex-Wrekin (about 1981), ex GEC ; ex GEC-Alsthom ; ex Alstom. ALE bought Alstom DSD in late 2004. Whole outfit looks pretty tidy in their new livery though.

Definitely agree with that. I would hate to think how many tons that girder frame has hauled in its time! Paul R

I have a Bob Tuck book which has an aerial shot of what I'm pretty certain is this girder frame - first time out it developed cracks. That was in its Wrekin days.

They must have fixed it pretty good then as it has now gone on for almost 30 years.

I have the Corgi CC12307 ..I think its same or similar.. The A.L.E stuff is always impressive ..That first truck looks like it wants to tear something in half

Yeh - the first Corgi girder set model was the black and yellow Wynns/GEC one - which is this actual trailer in real life. The United which you have and Pickfords are the same casting. Pickfords is pretty close (apart from the bogies being too wide) but United (prev. Wynns) had different trailers.
Wynns did pull the GEC trailers but they were always in GEC colours and Wynns had two trucks painted to match (which were also ex-Wrekin when Wynns and Wrekin merged). The only girder sets I've seen in Wynns colours were different to this casting.
I've never seen pics of this trailer in Wynns colours. I think it went straight from Wrekin to GEC livery.

looks like a big spool of musky master heading to Paul R's house again Great pics!!,I remember many moons ago getting books from the library and seeing cool ALE outfits, also seen two Fauns here a few years ago on the Naas road thanks for sharing
Why is "phonetically" spelt with a "ph"? ... It's better to be silent and thought a fool, then to speak up and remove all doubt The complex of Newgrange was originally built between c. 3100 and 2900 BC,[2] meaning that it's aproximately 5,000 years old. According to Carbon-14 dates,[3] it is more than 500 years older than the Great Pyramid of Giza in Egypt, and predates Stonehenge by about 1,000 years.

http://musketeer633.multiply.com/photos/album/8/WYNNS_HEAVY_HAULAGE#photo=91 Edit...link doesn't go to that pic direct...scroll down - it is taken from back end of trailer - dock cranes behind. There are about three pics of it - and also some of one of the GEC trailers. Here's a link to a shot of an ex-Wynns Scammell in United livery and a girder trailer, different to the one above and therefore different to the Corgi model. Pic posted by Graham Booth (who now owns this Scammell and put it back to Wynns livery) I don't know if this was also ex-Wynns or where it ended up. It isn't one of the GEC trailers. The Faun Elefant was designed as a tank transporter in the 70's and worked as an artic. There's a Revell 1/72 scale model available.

There is an Elefant here in Aust doing the same thing.Been here a few years now and spent most of its time in the dirt on the wind farm sites.Excells in the dirt but when he does a big push on the tar seal it likes to break axles.Done a few. It is a pretty cool truck. The guy who owns it used it with big H P Volvos .But when the going really gets tough there is nothing quite like a Mack Titan pushing it H P out through the back wheels.Hmmm.
