Amazing build Jason, it's unbelievable what some people can do with just a few strips and plates of styrene...

As for the HRD, it would look cool if you would build a long boom section as well, instead of just adding more and more short sections.

OK guys we are at 60 meters and I am planning another stick. We will end up around 70 meters working height.







Now we have some serious vertical



And some good reach 135 feet up 105 reach out



Redo plans:

redo hyd cylnders on the boom for the short stick for more movement to vertical

redo the front screen on cab for second time, I just do not like the look

Longer cab arm for better transport mode fit

I will be getting more done later this week, cam home to a plastic order so time to make some oney to pay for the beast

Looks great Jason! Now, since you're into the modular boom, why not have a modular stick as well? Liebherr experimented with it on a R 954 C VH-HDW. They basically cut the stick in half right behind the hydraulic cilinder point, and added a quick coupler system. Now they can use a longer or shorter stick on the same machine, with the appropriate sized tool. You could even have a heavy tool directly to the stick itself.

Here is a short article about this special machine including two photo's.

Hydraulic excavators with specialised demolition equipment are well known and the best piece of machine on nearly every demolitionsite. But even here there is still progress, and sometimes there are small additions or modifications needed to make a demoltion machine suited for a particular job. Demolition specialist Liebherr now reveals the familiar demolition machine with a new design. And that is with an hydraulic quick coupler interface on the stick.


R 954 C VH-HD with 34 m reach and Likufix quick coupler-stick

The customer for this projectwas a French demolition company from a suburb of Paris, Doyère Démolition, which works predominantly around Paris. Those who know Paris, knows that the workspace, as in most major cities, is extremely limited.

For these special applications in confined spaces, the company needed a flexible demolitionmachine with modular reach, and a special equipment mechanism, so the demolition excavator would be able to reach the required working height, without getting into logistical problems going to and from the worksite in the city streets.

In cooperation with Liebherr-France SAS, a demolitionmachine based on the R 954 C VH-HDW with 34 meters was designed and delivered with special modular components. The customer now has the capability to work on three different reaches:

1) 27 meters: Boom 11 meters and stick 3.5 meters
2) 30.5 meters: Boom 11 meters, stick 3,5 meters, and boom extension 3,5 meters
2a) 30.5 meters: Boom 11 meters, stick 7 meters
3) 34 meters: Boom 11 meters, stick 7 meters, and boom extension 3,5meters

The difference in maximum reach is the result of the combination of various modular components of the demolition equipment (boom extension, two different sizes of stick). This way the machine for example can reach a height using the boom extension and the short stick of 30.5 meters without any problems while being transported to and from the worksite. To facilitate a quick switch of the needed modluar parts, the R 954 C VH-HDW has been fitted with a Liebherr Multi-coupler system on the stick, boom and boom-extension.

The two available stick sizes have been modified so they can be used with the standard Likufix-system. Likufix is normally used for automatically and leakfree coupling of hydraulic worktools.

Here, however, for the first time, a rapid on- and of connection for the hydraulic lines has also been mounted and it is no longer neccessary for the operator to get out of the cab while switching work tools.

Another special innovation on this particluar machine is the LDC (Liebherr Demolition Control) securitysystem, which is fitte don all Liebherr demolition machines from the R 934 C to the R 974 C have been fitted. On this machine it has been modified so it will always offer protection to the machine and the operator, no matter what combination of worktools and heights the machine is working on.

All the soft lines are just pushed on will not be hard mounted until final paint is applied I do like the look of it with the grey on the boom gives it more character then the white.

I post more once I get more soft lines done up.
