Bucket is now painted with genuine CAT paint. I've had to do a bit more work on the stick, added 4 x lifting eyes (after Wesserhutte pointing it out), piping for the bucket rams and piping down the back of the stick for the bucket opening rams. It's off to paint tomorrow.

I would have never brought it up if you had already painted it! Judging from what you have previously shared, I felt obligated to comment considering you had worked so hard to get it to that point. I think you have a very keen eye and certainly would have noticed it yourself sooner than later?

To be fair, the photos I have of the real machine are really good but looking at them the lower eyes are slightly camouflaged against the paint. That photo you supplied above shows them well. Glad I didn't paint it!

Bucket and stick pretty much done. I'm pretty happy with it.

It's looking great Martin! I was thinking if you don't want to go for Esco green or another manufacturer's color, you may be able to etch around the teeth with an Xacto knife which may provide the relief and illusion that the teeth are not an integral part of the bucket. I think it would add a lot to the presentation, but that's just my opinion.

Nearly a year down the line and I've manged to drag my ass this far ha ha. Got dome detailing to do with some silver paint and knock up some collars for the hydraulic connections. Trouble is I keep starting other projects!

Awesome project Martin. I can do without watching reality shows on TV or losing time on Facebook, but great custom project posts as this one of yours keeps me holding on for the next pictures.... keep on kitbashing! This project is going to be state of the art. Stephane

It's great to see you're back at work on this project!
I do have a question though. Are you filling the entire void inside the stick with putty?

Awesome work! It looks like you're coming along nicely with this project. I can relate to that, I usually only get 2 or 3 weeks in on a project before I start fiddling with other things. My Facebook page: NorCalDiecastCustomsClifton

Thanks all, it's good to be back on it but it won't be rushed. digggerr wrote:It's great to see you're back at work on this project!

I filled out the voids on both boom and stick with foam and then topped it off with miliput. It's set rock hard and smothed down a treat with just a bit of touching up.

Foam? Like the stuff you spray into walls? That's brilliant!
