Price down and quality up. I always hated how many Norscot models were only ERTL quality at times. I'd rather pay more and have those few fine details that make it worth it!

Am I in the few who would like Plastic model kits of construction equipment?
I like Die cast but I find the models have a soft look as if they had melted a little. I miss the "crispness" of plastic scale models that die cast just can't match.
I don't play with the models though.

Guys,
Models already introduced by Norscot and Tonkin will be coming out. (For example, the 568 series and 555 Skidders). At least that is what we understand so far. In fact, there are a couple of models already in the works at both companies that will be introduced this year.
Norscot and Tonkin will continue to supply models through a sell-thru timeframe - so nothing will change quickly.
We will keep you posted with information as we hear....

Do you really think they are looking out for us or themselves. Norscot products were awful. Tonkin made lousy trucks. I only have one Tonkin construction piece, the CAT 627 and I love it. It just seems that CAT keeps taking the rights away from manufacturers starting back with Joal, then Conrad, and NZG, even First Gear made some collector club CAT stuff didn't they, now this deal. I try to buy only my favorite pieces from CCM and still have some Conrad pieces and NZG. Sure Conrad and NZG don't have the detail, but they are solidly built and you can customize them. WSI is making moves and their stuff is really good. But not much American products. If you cannot get a WSI American truck, or a Sword, or a Smith, don't waste your money. I offer no advice on the construction pieces other than buy CCM when they are announced, so you get the lowest price, and before they are hoarded. CAW

Maybe the new company will start making Cat models like forest equipment, waste handling, generators and anything else other than dozers, loaders and mine trucks which have flooded the market. Don't get me wrong guys but Norscot and Tonkin have over done the dozer, loader and mine truck areas of the model world.
Hopefully the new company will find a way to join many forums like ours so they can listen to what people want in a new type of model!!

It'd be interesting to see what there quick releases bring guess we'll have to hurry up and wait.
Personally I'd like to see some 14-18 ton shovels and maybe some mini exs and skid steers and a CAT F series backhoe that can load a truck would be nice.

Glad to see Tonkin is kicked out of the league. These former WSI/IMC guys (now Tonkin) just don't feel any shame on their QC. My jaw was on the ground when I saw the paint on the rims (MB flatbed Riga Mainz). If they can let this happen, they'd better quit this business.
It would be welcome for the new changes into the CAT series (CCM is at high-end while Tonkin / Norscot has poor performance) and the rest will leave to the market.

According to this further statement, looks like Norscot is indirectly still involved... considering that their old vice president will be the "program manager" of the new licensee. Also the manufacturer in china is the same of Norscot.... All this make me afraid that the new models will be on the Norscot standard... we'll see. http://www.norscot-models.com/diecast_masters.pdf
