It has been a long time since EFC's crews have moved a bucket of dirt. Time to build a new project. Here are some behind the scenes pictures before we get started.

Ready for a bypass. The highway the runs along the creek is narrow and dangerous. EFC has a contract to build a bridge for part of the new bypass. Also some slope stabilization will take place. Some of the existing soil nails EFC will be working to build a proper slope over the existing soil nails.

The guardrail is holding on to the edge...barely The creek does not have much flow right now, but it is capable of flooding the roadway.

Ethan that is just awesome work! I really love how you build your dioramas and all the detail to the terrain you put in, it's not just a simple flat surface. This is sort of what I was thinking of doing for my next diorama, a cut & fill type with a hill/rock side.
Couple of questions for you just to pick your brain;
What do you use to make the foam stick together? Just a simple Elmer's glue or hot glue?
What did you use for paint as your base and how did you do it? A brush or sprayer?
Keep up the good work and look forward to updates!

Looks good Ethan, I see a couple possible projects in this scene, such as building a retaining wall next to the road.

Keep up the good work and look forward to updates! I just use elmer's glue for the foam. It works, but there is probably something better out there. I just use flat interior latex paint. I apply it with a brush.

Some of the first in-action shots. Removing some guardrail. The 349 is overkill, but that is okay.

Looks awesome i miss doing dios. To be technical you do not want to set a crane ontop of drainage or piping. If you do you will want a nice sand base topped with a layer of matting. Just somthing to think about when setting up the dio Jason NIkl Scale Models
