Hello all
One week ago I was travelling the first time with the train through the brandnew and finished Gotthard - basetunnel where the original of my TBM`s has worked in the underground for some years. It was a very emotional moment for me personally to travel the first time through the finished tunnel because in the last 18 years I was countless times on all construction sites of the tunnel and that was very impressive and unforgettable for me !!!
Some times ago I had the hope that I will have finished my model until the tunnel was opened ( I am working on it since november 2004 ), but the work for this model was much more difficult as I thought. So it looks that I have much more time to build the model that the workers did have to build the tunnel......
Now I am working on the next backup - sections and I hope I can show you some pics of it in a couple of time....
Best regards
Manfred

Your work is almost unbelievable. I don't blame you for being emotional after all those years of hard dedicated work.

Hello Guys And this is my new "Tunneling - project" : It`s a tunneling - machine from the Herrenknecht company ( germany ) who built a highway - tunnel near Zurich in switzerland. The cutterhead had a diameter of nearly 12 meters and the machine was 165 meters long, so in scale 1:50 the model will be 3.30 meters long. The contractor who built the tunnel was the Marti Tunnel AG from Bern / switzerland Actually the cutterhead is built and ready to paint. The shield construction is built to 95%. Pics from it will be following soon..... Best regards Manfred tunneling forever

Are you using a 3d printer for your build now or still making each piece individually? Have been impressed with your work, thank you for sharing your newest project. Flickr Photostream

Hello No, I haven`t a 3D - printer and no CNC - machine at home. All I have is some hobby - machines from Proxxon like a circular saw and a disc grinder and my own hands and the original drawings and a lot of evergreen material... Best regards Manfred tunneling forever
