rare ss wrote:I had a little to do with these machines, I understood they were ordered as backhoes originally due to the the site running autonomous haul trucks, the system capabilities changed somewhat to allow the use of shovels which led to all x3 being delivered as shovels, we put the 3rd unit in there mid 2014
The above photo of 15H211 was the first unit followed by 15H212 & 15H222 Thanks for the clarification! So where is this new backhoe working?

Just to clarify for those interested in the topic of EX8000's (backhoe configuration only)
-first unit (prototype) at Stanwell's Meandu mine in QLD -second and third units at Whitehaven's Mauls Creek mine in NSW -as Rob mentioned,a shovel (owned by Liddel Coal)was converted into a backhoe.I have not seen any pics and have no further info. - 4 units have been ordered by Roy Hill,WA(see earlier post/article in this thread)

It's very sad that folks are reluctant to post photos they have, but it's all about liability today and I get it. If a photo shows a guy without his hardhat on or a dark wet spot on the the ground next to a machine in the instant it is shot, interpretation and speculation takes over. Is the guy without his lid on being a deviant or just scratching an itch or wiping off some sweat? Is the dark wet spot on the ground next to the whatever machine oil, hydraulic fluid or simply the melted ice from the operator's cooler he/she dumped out at the end of a shift? It's a really mucked up world we're in today!

Thanks for that! How great would it be if you could have a file of the entire footage and be able to speed up and slow down the footage!
