I love trying to discover history behind the one-off cars like this....

My personal phenomenon of the car world....... Chrysler has currently mothballed their Viper plant and this car goes by the name of....

Oreca Dodge Viper GTS

Quote:
Oreca were the French based company who lead the Viper to LeMans wins and many GT Championships,........... I know that it was owned by Team Oreca and was used as their Homologation example when they toured the GT series. I contacted Oreca many years ago and they were kind enough to inform me that it was actually a completely stock Viper GTS fitted with a GTS-R body (approx 4 inches each side, wider than stock).

I last posted about this car about a year ago and it was brought to my attention by some forum members that the car was on display at the Viper plant on the show floor. So far I've only come across these few pictures and was wondering if anyone else had run across anymore

The Walter P. Chrysler Museum is expanding their Viper display this month, and may use this car.

Nice Thomas! Is that the Turbo supercharged 1.4,I hear they are very quick, and economical too, looks nice in white too,

The complex of Newgrange was originally built between c. 3100 and 2900 BC,[2] meaning that it's aproximately 5,000 years old. According to Carbon-14 dates,[3] it is more than 500 years older than the Great Pyramid of Giza in Egypt, and predates Stonehenge by about 1,000 years.

Thanks, It's a 1.4 turbo only, the 1.4 turbo and compressor has 160 hp.
I'm happy with this one, I already had alot of problems to get an insurrance so I don't want to know how much trouble it would be to get insurrance on a 160 hp car.
It's really sad actually, just because I'm only 24 it's hard to get insurrance, they don"t even give a damn about the fact that I'm a truck driver and I have more driving experience than a 40 year old driving the same route to work every single day.
I don't know how much you guys have to pay but I'm paying €2700 insurrance a year, crazy or what?

Don't worry you're not alone in the world of crazy insurance quotes,I have had friends pay upwards of €4500 on cars like 1.3 Ford Escorts and 1.3 Toyota Corollas

there was one crazy incident with a friend,a few years ago insurance companies here could not just say "no" they had to give you a quote no matter what,

so my friend already had a 1.4 VW golf, then bought a 1.6 vetec Honda CRX,it only cost him about €800 extra for the remaining few months of that year, but when it was time to re-insure it the next year, he got a quote of €17,000,so that was that lol

I have a 1.3 corolla and my insurance is up next month,1'm 29 and I think my insurance is €1200 Sad thats 3 LTM11200's!!!!!

Have a 1.3 Corolla too. Got a quote of €1200 from Glennnons (the Engineers Ireland insurance broker) "hang on thats nearly twice the quote you gave me last year, so did you take into account I'm and member of Engineers Ireland" two minutes later she came back with €670 Cool Cool Cool

^^^^Goes to show how spoiled we are in the States. We whine about gas at $3.00 / $3.50 per gallon and pay far less in general driving costs. I hardly have anything new or high-performance ('97 Chevy Blazer! WooHoo!!) but am only paying $550 or so per year on insurance. Think

Was at the local body shop last week and he had a couple interesting vehicles on hand. Naturally I thought of you guys and snapped off a few pix:

These both belong to two different local entertainment personalities in the ATL. Really dig the spyder.

Evidently neither one can drive their hi priced Italian chariots since they were both in for body werk!d'oh!

Just a really sweet and clean M3!

This my euro friends is what a redneck with too much $ looks like!

Enjoy!

^ Nice pics, thanks for sharing!

Well Bugatti have done it again.... WOW!

Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Super Sport sets land speed record at 267.81 mph! (430.99kph)

http://www.autoblog.com/2010/07/04/bugatti-veyron-16-4-super-sport-sets-land-speed-record-at-267-81/

As production of the Bugatti Veyron winds toward its eventual conclusion, Bugatti has created what is likely to be the ultimate version of its world-beating hypercar: the Super Sports. Bugatti sent its official test driver Pierre Henri Raphanel out on Volkswagen's Ehra-Lessian high-speed oval with the first Super Sports to see just what it could do. With representatives of the Guinness book of records and German Technical Inspection Agency (TÜV) on hand, Raphanel made passes around the big oval in both directions.

With output bumped up from 1,001 horsepower to 1,200 horsepower, torque swelling to 1,106 pound-feet and a revised aerodynamic kit, Raphanel managed runs of 265.9 and 269.8 mph for an average terminal velocity of 267.81 mph and a new world record for a production car.

The first five production Super Sports will sport the same black and orange finish as the record car and all production models will be electronically limited to 257.9 mph to protect the tires. The Veyron Super Sports will be publicly shown for the first time at the Pebble Beach in August.

Oh and the Hennessey Venom GT finally got a lick of paint...

Personally, I liked it better in the black carbon fiber.

I came upon this critter heading out of Cleveland after the Open House...

I doubt if it was an original. Probably a kit or the re-make Ford came out with a couple of years ago...
