those molten metal bottle's, would be made out of quite large thinkness plate. and as for the Brick (ceremic tile) BobM mentioned once there added they do add some weight, at work im currnetly working on a 5.3 metre diametre desliming sump for a local mine, once the tiles are added the overall weight is just under 11t.
We also did a large chute awhile back which weighed on at about 5t before the tiles were installed. and weighed in at 14t when I escorted it to site. Pic below.

Package day yesterday, been waiting on this thing for about 3 or 4 months now!

And a little size comparison

This specific engine came in 3 different #s 9250, 9251 and 9256..... i personally have been on 9251 and have seen 9256 in one of our yards so i was really partial to this engine when i saw it was going to come out in model form.... i was really wanting 9251 since i have been on it but the dealer wouldnt guarantee me a specific engine # unless you order all 3 which is lame so i had a 2/3 chance of at least getting one of the engines i wanted and i pull the 3rd one so i was a little disappointed when i saw it was this engine # but oh well, what can ya do

The scale on this engine is O scale which comes out to 1/48 so its slightly bigger than all the 1/50 stuff i collect but you cant even tell the difference

The complex of Newgrange was originally built between c. 3100 and 2900 BC,[2] meaning that it's aproximately 5,000 years old. According to Carbon-14 dates,[3] it is more than 500 years older than the Great Pyramid of Giza in Egypt, and predates Stonehenge by about 1,000 years.

if you look around you can probably change out the number boards or get decals and re number it.

That looks awesome man, I'm hoping to pick one up, not the Operation Lifesaver though sometime this year for my CAT train.

Where's the couplers?

man would you believe that !!!!, the couplers dont come with the engine, you have to buy those separate, so its not technically an engine yet if you ask me.

NS is doing 19 engines in Heritage colors (companies they have taken over over the years) and MTH is doing all 19 companies in model form, theres at least 5 or 6 Heritage engines that im gonna want to add to my collection when that happens, 3 of them come out between Sep and Dec this year..... trains may just be my new cranes

i recall not long ago someone posting a picture of a load fastened down to a railcar using steel rod.... here is a transformer (im guessing?) on an 8 axle drop deck car using steel rod to fasten it to the car, load limit on this car is 464,000 lbs

^^^ DO NOT HUMP!! i always thought that was funny when i would see that before i found out what it really meant

and a CN train with a DPU (Distributed Power Unit) in the middle of the train, its not uncommon to see a DPU on the rear of a train, but in the middle is something i dont see to often, CN is the only railroad that i have seen actually put a DPU in the middle of their train. One of the engineers i work with says that the Union Pacific claims that putting a DPU at the rear of their train saves them 20% on fuel costs vs. just keeping all the engines at the front of the train

Nice pics Woc!!! Can't get enough of those trains!! I had blood drawn the other day and I swear I saw a couple boxcars, a few coal cars and a loco or two go into the vial from the arm (as in trains in my blood)!!!!!

I can also see where the loco in the middle or end would help. If your pulling a mile or so of loaded cars having all the power at one end is hard on the fuel as well as one the head end locos.

I hope your still having fun on the rails Woc and glad to see you got the bug for the big locos like Graham has. Love the looks of the NS loco and it is amazing looking next to the Elliot fuel and lube!!

Dain

I'm a kid at heart, so I will play with any model construction vehicle from 1:87 scale to 1:1 scale!!!!

Nice pics. And engines there. Is there some in 1/50 scale? This will make a great lift load for my cranes.

there are 6 that are coming out this year

just go to MTHTrains.com and look up NS Heritage locomotives

Like the most recent one, the Illinois bright green! Could you imagine the railfans on the side of the road if you were in one?
