Well I have started building a concept 2000 ton crawler. I started with the hook and have been building from it. Everything is drawn in Cad and laser cut. First time I am going 95% computer design and not hand cut.

Here is the hook will upload more pic later

Here it is in my hand so you get a feeling of size

I have it made with all sheeves free roll and the stop bars so the rope does not jump very fast and easy to reeve. One thing I have learned on the job.
The stop bars are .25 mm from sheeve to stop jumping

Amazing amount of detail. How did you get the rounded edges of the massive hooks?

Thats guys this has been a very new thing designing on computer then putting pieces together. The best thing is pieces fit perfect being laser cut
The hooks were cut out glued together and then shaped using knife and sanding sticks . About 3 hours in them alone to get shape correct.

I started this as a 6 leg pedestal crane but did not like the look. So I thought went to a quad design.
Here is a pic of the whole thing so far.

Here is the A frame , you can also see the house is all modular for transport. The winch is mad e spring loaded kind of like the NZG winches, you have to push in and turn and the lock works perfect. The superlift boom did not sag it at all at low angle.

This is the superlift pullies. I did not string all just enough for pic, it is strung with 28 lb musky master

Here is a quick shot of the house , I have not designed cab orengine container yet

More pics when I get going, I am casting tracks slowly just need over 100 of them

Dewoc you and that Translift , well maybe I could now I am getting better at designing

Jason

I'm telling you what, you have become a master with plastruct!
I wish I could build a crane from scratch like this
I'm surprised a manufacturer has not already hired you yet!

Wow, outstanding Jason! I'm already loving the look of this. Not sure what it is, maybe the low slung A frame at the rear but it reminds me a little of one of the Deep South cranes. Keep us upto date! Oh and any more recent pics of your modular demolition giant? Would be nice to see the pair together?

Absolutely astounding! Does the computer aided design and machining help speed the process up?

Certainly does speed up process. I am pretty quick at drawing on computer and all i have to do is plug in laser do a few settings and cut away. Cutting styrene is very tricky with a laser you have to get settings perfect because it melts fast if they are wrong. The cad program I am using is Autocad 2000, old but works for my needs. Laser is a 40 watt from Fs laser. It works good for a budget laser still costs a few thousand.

A translift would be a cool build and if I was going to do a Liebherr it would be the Lr11350 my favorite crane

Here you go Mike

Counterweight tray on

Tray bolts on under neath body with 4 pins

Here is the first of many counterweights. I added a few detail pieces to the weight and added my name Teeth it just looked plain without anything

Here you get a feeling of size of weight. I do not know if I want to cast or just piece these one by one?
