Ok I was dreding the inside of cab but I did it last night. The op chair took the longest to do just because it was so small. I also added a small refrigerator and space for small microwave. I also added a few storage shelves.
I added glass to all windows and temp glued them in so I can get them out to paint inside cab.

Sorry for bad pic I was getting a glare off windows

A few pics you can see the exhaust added to container and detailing sdded to roof

Another view you can see windows

Ok I am going to show how I am doing the boom section joints. Last crane this was a big problem for me. What I did this time was make a male and female ends. Then I molded them and cast all I need. I am using same size for superlift and main boom. The jib will have a smaller set.

As you can see I just super glue ends in

Well I used all my stock up and did alittle of main boom so I figured I would put together what I have done

I am still up in the air on the quad track. I might mock up a sinlgle track to see what I like.
What do you guys think? Keep going on quad or go with twin tracks?

i think 2 tracks would look better and be alot more stable, 4 is risky

I agree that two tracks would look better - take it from Terex and Liebherr that it's the way to go!

Can you use the same track pads for bigger tracks? Would save a lot of time.

Awesome model but I'd go for a more conventional track arrangement. Cool

Well I have switched to two tracks. I drew them up earlier this evening and got pieces cut out for first track.
I had a few people ask to see the laser cutting so I did a video cutting out some parts

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MKjz-Ec5ab0&feature=youtube_gdata_player

Now I have to cast a lot more track pads. And yes I can use same pafs

Ok I got a lot of feed back on the track frame , most of it was go traditional frames. So I drew up a frame and lasered them out. I ran out of plastic so I had to buy some cheap styrene to get me by until my bulk sheets get here. So reason it stunk when I burned pieces out. It was softer then the stuff I have been using but it worked for now. By looking at it you can not tell but I know. Oh well

I had to cast a few more tracks to fit larger frames , which I just finished and got them mocked up on frame for pic. I still need to add upper rollets and sliders.
The frame is made lile Liebherrs frame which I am leaning now towards a heavy Liebherr crane to fit between 11350 & 13000
Each frame has 32 bottom rollers which roll perfectly.

Hete is a few pics not best lighting but you can see new frame setup which looks a lot better then before

Another view

Here I put my LR1280 behind for size reference also if you look close at tracks you can see a guy

I would add more pics but my photobucket bandwidth is pretty high

What do you think of new set up?

It definitely suits the traditional track design better like Airwolf said it makes the crane look so much larger.
Very nice piece of work so far!

I also think from an engineering point of view the crane looks more viable with these huge, heavy track frames. It's looking a bit of an LR13000 / CC8800 hybrid. Looks very nice indeed.

Do you have a drill press to get your holes in the tracks nice and straight? Looks perfect.
