Up early to catch that! I put 1 of the slings on this morning but have left site now as the guy I was covering is back from holiday. Siting at Falkirk depot waiting for a 500 to travel down the road to arrive. All in all I spent 3 weeks with the LG, enjoyed it  Who knows what next. Gaz

For quite a few years now whenever pictures of our LTM1800 go up it is commented how ugly and in poor shape the machine looked.....well it's a good few years old now and has been incredibly busy but to those who care it is undergoing a Huge refurb. Ainscough are doing no half measures with this with the machine literally stripped to its component parts, every inch inspected, completely re-wired, every hydrolic hose replaced and most important to the looks of the machine, a full re-spray. Boom being dismantled   Boom stripped down   Couple of boom sections have come back after re-spray  All brand new wiring  A frame  A frame is now blue to match all the other strut cranes  Every pennant is being done, the big ram is for the A frame for attaching the boom and the small ones are for the A frame. Every ram has been sent away and re-done.  back stop rams and more pennants done.  Back mast root  back mast intermediate section  back mast top section  Even the luffer is being seen too, turning from blue to yellow.  carrier is in the workshop, again completely re-wired, hydrolic hoses replaced, the winches have been removed and sent to liebherr's, top and bottom cabs completely stripped and rebuilt. Goes to the paint shop next week. Suspention is all new, new brakes and transmission, as I said, no expense spared.  ainscough LTM1800 will be a new machine in 4 weeks time. enjoy Gaz

The military does this all the time. The Air Force still has B52 Bombers and AC-130 Gunship flying. The B-52 if from the 50's and the AC-130 came to life in the 60's. The Army has stripped and rebuilt the M-1 Abrams numerous times. Steel is steel. If the outside shell is intake it makes perfect seance to for a complete rebuild. I'm sure this crane can be rebuilt a few more times before it done with its life. They plan to keep the B-52 flying to 2045 90 years.... New paint, updated hardware and software and a fresh start on life again....
Looks great and can't wait to see her finished and back to work.
