thd56 wrote:I have a question about the pics loading the cable reels. After you set the reel on the ship and there is no load on the hook, can the crane swing around with the ballast tray on the crane? I notice in the pic its not attached to the crane anymore. Does it need to be moved to lift the next reel? Hope what I'm asking makes sence. Perfect sense, simple as I can put it think of the crane as a giant balancing act, more weight on the hook the more needed in the tray. The 1st reel needed 250t on the tray, once landed you let weight of both the load and the tray until both are completely landed. In this case it was over 500t! You can lift 30t in the tray with the weight of the 35m boom (more depending on boom length) the help the back stop rams give and hook block, we do this to place the tray ready for the next lift. If you got enough boom on and enough space you could lift 250t with nothing on the hook but will be at a very low angle. The massive and various amount boom systems and rigs you can put this crane on makes it very versatile and takes some learning, I'm at the start of that process! hope this helps Gaz

That's one of your best photos yet mate. And I agree with the comments on the 1500 - if only someone would make the 1500 in 1:50th scale!

Hi Jack, Hope you don't mind me chipping in here Gaz,looking at the pdf download of the technical data for the LG 1550 lifting capacities, at min radius of 14m, 94 Tonne, at max radius 84m 5.9 Tonne. That is just a rough guide and quite an old pdf file things may have changed. I am sure there is more to it than that, out rigger positions, amount of ballast and so on, I am sure Gaz will put me right BTW Gaz, did you sort out the twist in the wire rope? Engineers what would we do without them Steve.

Hi Guys, As we are having a good spell of dry weather, and I am able to set up outside, thought I would set up my LG1550 in same configuration as Gaz has, 98m of boom if it can be done in real life it can be done in 1:50 scale. More can be seen at http://s1142.photobucket.com/albums/n601/steve1857/YCC%20Liebherr%20LG1550%20with%2098m%20boom/Steve.

steve, your almost there, only got the single pans on, don't really use the beams very often. Like the the way you've got the weights in the same order!
Looking at the duty chart in the crane, minimum radius is 12m giving us 68t, maximum radius is 8.9t @ 84m. We are working about 30m lifting a 38t 85m long 4000t wire rope.
I'm a wee hung over today so i'm hiding in the van while someone else drives it!

We are only sorting the lifting gear for it mate, its weighs over 1500t and will be put in place by a floating crane. The wire ropes are 38t, lifting beams are 50t. birdman wrote:Thanks for pointing out the pans Gaz, now sorted Read about your wild night in the karaoke bar on Faceworm if every you are on a overnight stop at Leyland give me a shout and we will take you to the Los Vegas of the North a fun filled night in the party capital of the world Blackpool we will make sure you have a hangover from hell I thought Leyland was the party capital of the north! I don't spend alot of time in Leyland to be fair but i'd be up for a night out in Blackpool, not been there in years! Gaz

I've just had some made by decalprint.de and was impressed with them so I'd recommend them. Now if you could find someone to take some close up pictures of all the decals on an Ainscough LG1550 then you'd be laughing.......... If you organise a night out in Blackpool, I'd be up for it time permitting Last time I was there was with the young farmers and we were never allowed back! Paul R

Ha, Leyland comes a close second, the Lost Vegas of the North. PaulR thanks for the heads up on the decals, now I wonder who can get us a good set of pictures ? any ideas I think they have managed to tidy the prom up in Blackpool so you should be OK to come back, tell me about Young Farmers, wife use to be in them back in the days when she could knock 10 bottles of Holsten Pils back and still remain standing Steve.
