Todays picture shows 75% of the painted boom, stick, bucket, tracks , carbody, and main swivel structure all assembled. I am now working on the cab details and more detail painting and hydraulic lines and decals. I should get it all done by Friday . Anyone following the building progress pictures can see todays progress at www.doncampbellmodels.com

Looks great!
On your website I saw that you have an RV. Just curious, but do you have a workshop in the back of the motor home?

Yes, I converted the back bedroom into a workshop , now I can do light welding and grinding as Deb drives down the expressway to and from the Campgrounds, with no non-productive down time , LOL

Tiny question here.
What happens if you hit a bump
say bye-bye to the drivers side slide out section

Today I am connecting all the hydraulic lines to the cylinders , also going to detail the cab interior and put cab windows in and side louvers bolted on and cab roof by tonight. I am excited to see it done on Friday afternoon.

Here is a picture Deb just took tonight after mounting the finished cab . You can see me attaching the last of the over two dozen hydraulic lines in the middle of the machine.

That is simply amazing Don! By far my favorite of your customs to date. Peter Kiem built a R9800 in 1/25th scale for Liebherr to use at the 2008 MineXpo. You should contact Liebherr America, I'm sure they would love to see one in 1/12th scale! Again, great work!

Thanks again for the kind words.
When it is completed tomorrow , it would be fun to send a couple pictures of it to the Liebherr people to share with them. I'm not sure who to contact .
When I built the Silver Spade , the Bucyrus-Erie people contacted me and expressed great interest in purchasing it. So I'm thinking they like how it turned out.
Leon E-mailed me yesterday and said he loves it and that was before it got the cab or hydraulic lines. Tomorrow it should look even better when it is done , ha,ha.

I'm not sure who at Liebherr you would contact as the US website seems to only have a mailing address - Perhaps someone here on the board might know? PS, check your PM.

I just posted the first of several completed pictures of the Mass Excavator I will post today . I am very pleased how it turned out. I think I managed to get a nice overall look with the crude tools I have to work with and no welding or fabricating experience in a real shop .
Today will be the last pictures posting on this thread.
This is the first time I have ever shared this many photos as I actually built a model . Even I have no idea how it will turn out until it is finished .
I want to say a big thanks to all of you who shared your positive input. And to those of you who thought otherwise , thanks for not saying any negative comments , as I am always the first to know and admit all my models are far from perfect . Have a great Memorial Day Weekend ,

Fenominal work Don, you looked as if you enjoyed building this one. How heavy is the boom to reposition.
